Odysseus and Me: An essay

An explanation of the essay

The question: In what ways have you ever displayed similar characteristics to Odysseus?

  • A five-paragraph essay (meet the standards set in class with the previous essay)
  • THREE characteristics of Odysseus (one characteristic per supporting paragraph)
  • Prove each characteristic by presenting TWO quotes from the text (that’s a total of SIX quotes)
  • You must use at least one passage from each of the three major sections of the story (Cyclops, monsters, and homecoming)
  • Three of the quotes must be part of an example of indirect characterization
  • Relate each of the characteristics to a time when you acted with it (You’ll need to tell a small story)
  • 12 pt. Times New Roman font or equivalent, double-spaced, with proper heading
